From what I've seen it's normally a grade higher ie AAB for BEng and AAA for MEng.

It appears that most universities will let your transfer from BEng to MEng after your first year if you do well enough though.

Really? How do you know? It doesn't really say on their websites.

Yes it does.

eg. Newcastle AAA-AAB for MEng, AAB-ABB for BEng.
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/undergraduate/degrees/h810/entryrequirements/

And states shared content for BEng and MEng for Years 1 & 2

http://www.ncl.ac.uk/undergraduate/degrees/h815/modules/

This is standard practice across all unis offering BEng and MEng.

I should have been clearer. I meant that how do you know they'll let you transfer from BEng to MEng?

Do you use Google at all?

Surrey
http://www.surrey.ac.uk/undergraduate/chemical-engineering
BEng and MEng transfer
Because Years 1 and 2 are the same for all programmes, it is possible to transfer between them at any point up to the start of Year 3. You will study the same material in Years 1 and 2, whether you are an MEng or BEng student.

Nottingham
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/engineering/faq/index.aspx
"I'm not sure whether I should study for a MEng or a BEng qualification
There is some flexibility to transfer between BEng and MEng up to the end of the second year, providing you meet the course requirements, but think carefully about whether you want a career in engineering and your likely A-level qualifications generally we expect higher grades for MEng applicants."

Warwick
http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/eng/study/ug/faq/#transfer

Loughborough
http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/chemical/undergraduate/faq/
Is it possible to transfer between the MEng and BEng?
Transfer from BEng to MEng can be made up to the end of the second year provided that the MEng progression criteria have been met. Transfer from MEng to BEng can take place at any time after the commencement of studies.

You should still be accepted but it's still possible if others got the grades, you might not get in... Soz so no idea but most likely accepted into Surrey

Thanks for the advice.
What are you guys planning to do if you don't get into your insurance choice? You might not want to talk about it but chemical engineering has some pretty high entry requirements

Honestly not contemplating that scenario because this is it... I got good AS grades and A2 was decent so hoping AAA is good enough as AS will carry my A2

I did well at AS too but it seems like a really bad idea not to think about what you're going to do if you don't get in to either choice.

Relax bro , you must have some confidence in yourself if your AS went well ! Dw you'll get those grades , my insurance is Mechanical engineering anyway which is AAB but yeah I think I'm gonna get atleast AAA after looking at online mark schemes and past papers

Say I don't get into chemical engineering this yr. I've firmed Leeds and insured Sheffield. Would universities still accept me if I take a gap yr and resit my exams? Because the league tables have changed.....
