Got into Exeter for PPE, should I go for Oxford?

I recently received my a level results and they were enough to get my first choice offer at Exeter for PPE. But my offer is deferred, so I'm taking a gap year. I'm also getting one of my papers remarked so that it goes from an A to an A*. I am to hear about the remark on 31st August, and if it goes well my grades would stand at A*AA and an A in my As.

Now I was happy with my offer at Exeter but recently I've been reading student room forums where people are saying that PPE is highly respected in Oxford, and then Warwick and Durham. The Exeter course apparently doesn't hold the same prestige and isn't as academically renown.

Now I'm wondering whether I should use my gap year to re apply. But then I'm scared of losing my place at Exeter and not getting anything better. Would Exeter accept me if I decline their offer and reapply again?
