I would have said that Primary Studies is more specialised as opposed to Education Studies which seems more general.

Do you have any courses that you're looking at in general? I can have a look at the general structure for you? :h:
Primary Education courses will be geared towards becoming a primary teacher - they will likely have practical elements (i.e. school placements). They are vocational.

Education Studies courses are academic - they do not give Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and are not designed towards becoming a teacher, hence why you have to do something like a PGCE afterwards if you wanted to become one.
Thanks guys!

I have applied for Primary Education, but recently I have decided that this may not be the best choice for me because I might not like being a Primary school teacher so I would have to undertake another 3/4 years of university to become a secondary teacher. So, I thought that maybe Education Studies would be the more suitable route?

Education Studies on it's own (i.e. not a joint honours) doesn't set you up ideally for secondary teaching - doing a degree in your specialist subject is probably preferable.
I found that Education Studies didn't suit me because it didn't really set me up for being a primary teacher - I would've had to go on and do more training because it seems to be more general. A Primary Ed course will hopefully leave you with QTS, so it's generally people who want to go straight into teaching in a primary school.
It depends what you want to do really! If you want to be a Secondary teacher, you might want to look at doing a degree in a subject and then going on to do a PGCE, so that you have your specialist subject (as someone else mentioned)

No because you have to do a degree with 50% of the content in the subject you want to teach for secondary level

I think the most important thing we can do to prepare our children for life is to teach them science in school. We have an opportunity to do this, because schools are still the main source of education in our country.
