How does UCAS work if you're an external student at a college?

Who predicts your grades? References? How does this work? Can you use the same references from last year or will they have to change? Does my personal statement have to change as well?

Thanks

I don't know too much about the process, but I applied last year after doing some exams externally. (got accepted, starting in september)

No one predicted any grades, I already had two full A levels, and just had to give my AS grade for the subject I was still studying. I got a reference from a supervisor at my job, as I'd been out of college for 3 years, but if you have references from the year before I don't see why they wouldn't still be alright.

Your personal statement depends, cause it should talk about what you've done and what you want to do (I think, Im no expert...), so if you already have one that's good enough maybe you only need to tweak it a bit?
