The Student Room Group

I want to run away, I'm a Loner

I feel like i want to run away. It's been three years since my life ended. what i mean by this is that within these three years i've been..

Kicked out of two college because of attendance (look at my other posts)

Do not get along with family anymore

Realising who i am as a person (A ****)

Having very poor chronic friendships

Past managers insulting how weird and stupid i am.

HM revenue and customs suing my parents £5000 child tax credit because of my poor education.

Nobody likes me. Everyday i struggle to live, Porn is my only hobby now as i watch it everyday. I want people to reply me if you've moved out of your parents house from age 18-19 (not in leaving for uni) or have decided to go travelling as i want to have an idea if my college plans will fail, because even though i am going college for the third time, i'm considering not doing it because of past experience. If it does fail then i will move out of my family or i'll travel or migrate somewhere for a really long depressing time.

I just can't continue, i'm too old and depressing to live with my unpleasant family. I just want to leave and go somewhere forever.

You really need to get some support and make sure as many people as possible know what you're going through. There must have been reasons your first two attempts at college didn't work and if you don't get any help with them, it's likely to just happen again. Although travelling might seem tempting, you only get free education until you're 19. If you come back from travelling with no money, no job and no qualifications, and not having resolved any of the problems that led you to go travelling in the first place, and then have to get a dead-end job where you can't afford to pay to go back to college, you're just going to be in an even worse place. It would be much better to get through college now whilst it's free. You can succeed with the right support.

Does the college you're joining know that you had poor attendance the first two times? Colleges spend a lot of money employing attendance officers, student support workers, etc. just for this reason. Make sure the college know that you might struggle with attendance and they will be able to support you. If you can't face going to a class for example, they might arrange for you to be able to go sit in the library or somewhere else on campus, so you can be at college but away from whatever in the class makes you not be able to face going. If you struggle to complete work or lose interest in the course, they might be able to keep you on track or break down the work so it's more manageable. But they can only support you if you tell them you need support.

I was struggling at work when I joined because I'm shy and have difficulty asking questions about things I don't know how to do. It was affecting my performance as I kept making mistakes. But then I just admitted to my manager that I have that problem. Because he knew, he was then able to make it easier for me, for example he now asks "any questions?" when I'm doing a task, to give me a prompt to ask questions and show me he understands. Basically if you admit that you need help, most people will be willing to help
I mean this in the nicest possible way, mate: get yourself to a doctor. Talk about low mood and stuff, they can help!

Thank you for your reply, with the travelling and migrating stuff. Education is actually free until your 23 and have no a-levels. I'm 19 so this year i had to a tiny bit lie that i have never done a level 3 course otherwise i would have paid for my course.

with the attendance issues, the college that im returning to is bizzarely the same college i went to study for my btec music level 3 when i was 16. the twist here is that this college has poor records, and i plan to do an access to business instead of doing a btec so its basically moving departments of this college.

Your advice is useful with your experience with your job but it's time for me to leave as i'm too disgraceful and quite retarded.

Well hopefully that'll help then. Just make sure you keep talking with someone and don't bottle everything up. Staying open about how you feel and having some help line will really help. If needs be, if you can't find anyone to talk to, just call Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90 . Talking about how you are feeling without being judged can help a lot.

You need to see a counselor( possibly with your family), although at first you wont see a difference just keep going and eventually you will make a breakthrough. If you feel like a loner try joining a social club. As for your porn "problem" this is not an unheard of hobby and is something that you should also discuss with your counselor, that is if you do take my advise and get one, or you could just try slowly cutting it out of your life.

No, i definitely do not need to see a counselor espically with my family, i'll probably kill myself. I also don't think social clubs works with me, i've been to before but it just does not seem to work with me.

My porn problem is horrible as it is a sin to **** but sadly its the only way of getting 2 hours of free pain

Your advice was useful but i'm just so stubborn to actually agree with anything (i'm like that)
Im 14 and i would love just to runaway, your probly not anywhere near as bad as you think you are, hope your ok now anyway :3

Travelling, as depicted on TV, may seem like an easy way to escape life and be happy but it isn't. It's harder to get one of these jobs abroad than it is made out to be and your problems will still be here when you get back.
