English literature without the A level?

I was looking into university courses earlier, and I saw a few English Language and Literature courses that looked good. I'm studying English Language at the moment, but not literature. I thought perhaps the required subjects would maybe be a bit more flexible as part of a joint honours course? Basically, I'm just unsure whether you need an a-level in English Literature to do the courses or not?

Look at the online prospectuses, there should be a typical offer/requirements section. It will state in there if you need English Lit. I think it tends to be that they want the lit and don't mind if you have the lang because most places offer lit, but not lang. Have a look though. xx

As said, look at the prospectuses online, or email the admissions people for details of course requirements. I know a couple of people who have gotten Uni places for English courses with only an EngLang A-Level - so it is possible. Best of luck with any applications :smile:
