How to be more employable?

Having surfed through the copious array of uni/subject league tables published, I am seeking validation as to whether these tables offer an insight into how employable you are after graduating..

I'm grateful to be studying at one of the top institutions in the UK and internationally, however my course itself (English Literature and Lang) is apparently not as 'weighty' as other top universities that specialise in English in the UK.

Am I wrong in saying however, that your degree is 'what you make it', and although it's not the top uni for the subject itself, it is still an excellent institution; what will place me above job competitors is what I do above my degree, how I differentiate, and how I diversify my uni experience?

I was just disheartened to see the tough time the degree detail itself was getting despite the university being so prestigious. Correct me if I'm wrong or reassure me if I'm right! haha.

Thanks guys for your opinions/guidance!

During your second year I would advise you to take up work experience, paid or unpaid in firms or charities you would like to work for. English is more desired as you have critical. Analysis and comparative skills employers look for. Ask students union if they want writers to help out with their news paper, online and offline. If you plan to go into teaching , English is a specialist in Primary and Secondary teaching.

Employers ask you about how do you work as a team? Prioritising work load and meeting deadlines. Why do want to work for..... If someone wasn't pulling their weight in the team and the deadline was today, how would you go about finishing the work.

My advice is to get to know everyone in your class, pick your team carefully as it was one of my downfalls, enjoy uni,
