Your referee can be any of your teachers; it doesn't have to be a chemistry or biology teacher. A lot of people's references are written by their form group teachers, who may not actually teach them anything. As long as it's from a teacher who knows you well enough to write a coherent reference, it's fine.

What I had was each of my 4 subject teachers wrote a paragraph then my tutor and finally my head of year so I had lots if peoples input.

Yes, it will be fine. All that matters is that the teacher knows you reasonably well. My reference, for medicine 2013 entry, was written by a maths teacher!
