required grades vs actual grades

I was wondering if it means anything at all if you meet the requirements. Of course you have to get the required grades but competition is so high that actually you may need to get even higher grades. So
1. What were the requirements?
2. What marks did you achieve?
3. Did you have any experience or competitions won that might have had impressed them?
4. Conditional or unconditional offer?
It depends on the university, and how many people applied for that course.
1. AA
2. BBB
3. Volunteering experience.
4. Unconditional.

Since my grades were lower than required, I discussed this with other people and there were some speculations as to why I still managed to get in. One was that not a lot of people did much better in my course, and so the university turned to the next best candidates. So it really depends.

Some places want higher in reality which is a pain and some want lower.

For example, Oxford ask for AAA with no GCSE requirement, but you'd have almost no chance finding someone who has got in with AAA and mediocre GCSEs. Nottingham is the opposite, as for Law they ask for A*AA but often give out AAA or AAB offers.

The only way to find out really is to ask actual applicants, because the University will often not give you a straight answer unless you personally talk to an Admissions Tutor.
