Medical School - Would I even be considered?

First of all sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't sure which sub-forum to post it in.

So I've been wanting to go into medicine for quite some time now (I want to become a doctor). However I am not entirely sure if I could even get in.
Currently I am studying a Bsc in Biomedicine and am going to push myself for a first, but I am definitely going to get a 2:1 (I hope XD).
However my concerns are that I took a college course in applied Science rather than A-levels; which I obtained the grades Distinction Distinction Distinction (DDD). In addition my GCSE were not the greatest, but certainly not the worst, all grades were mostly B's and C's; I got two B's in Science and a C in maths.

I highly doubt it. Dreams are good because they keep you going.

You could try and get a doctorate in biomedicine and call yourself a doctor but that seems unlikely too considering your grades. I think you should try and apply for a PGCE course.

I chose this course as I was told by many people that it offered the opportunity to take medicine as the degree is a gateway degree and is widely accepted by many medical institutions; and that I was wanting to study Internal Medicine (General Medicine) once I finished and had the degree, if not I was then most likely to go into another field after I specialise.
So there's no hope that I can do medicine, or would I have to check with each institution?
I had look at NHS Entry requirements to medical school page, yet it simply states that "Medical schools increasingly welcome applications from graduates. Graduate candidates normally need a first or upper second class honours degree."

Providing you get a 2:1 you will be eligible for a good amount of Graduate Entry Medicine schemes. You will most likely need a B in GCSE Mathematics and English Language, however.

I did get a C or B in English, can't remember at this present moment, I got a C in Maths and did additional Science awarded BB. :smile:

I wasn't given the best opportunities in school, since I had been to around 4 or 5 different schools at the time (I had to move a lot, mainly abroad) and because of that the schools either lost or misplaced some of the more important documents or received partial documents; such as my SAT results. Because of this, when I reached high school they did not know what sets to put me in and whether I should do the higher examinations or not; as they weren't sure of my abilities. :frown:

I also didn't really enjoy school much :frown:

But that's the past and this is the present, so I am going to push myself during this course and will prove that I am capable of doing the best and being the best :smile:

Looking at it and some of the Medical Schools, I seem to meet most of the requirements, and I will be making some enquiries to them as to whether my qualifications are acceptable (if that's a good thing to do?) :smile:

Really high (and I mean high) UKCAT or BMAT would help!! You could try GAMSAT but I've heard they're quite hard.

You're doing the right degree for GEM. Contrary to popular belief and misconception, getting a first will NOT boost your chances of getting into GEM, unless the university says so (and most of them don't). So a 2:1 is just fine.

In terms of A levels etc - you can apply to graduate entry courses which don't look at A levels or which have low requirements. What you will need to do well on is the UKCAT or GAMSAT - assuming you're applying to medical schools which have an entrance examination.
