Single to Joint honours - How it will affect final grade?

Hi,

Here my problem:

- If after my first year of reading Maths, I wanted to switch to maths and computer science (or any maths joint honours), I would assume my second year will be primarily focused on that other subject.
- However, often your first year doesn't contribute to your final grade and it's only the second & third that count.
- Would they look at certain modules you have taken in the first year and use them towards your final grade? Or solely use your (one subject focused) second year with the third.

Hope this makes sense.

Any help?

I'd be surprised if any university let you switch from maths to maths and computer science without having done the necessary computer science modules in 1st year. You might have a few options in 1st year to do subjects outwith maths but I doubt this would be able to cover all the 1st year computer science material you would need for 2nd year. Its normally easier to switch from joint honours to single honours anyway.
