Re: St Andrews chat threadahh well, I suppose you do have some sort of excuse, but anyway hello! I look forward to seeing you next year!(Original post by harry5069)
Hi guys, I'm another one of the lurkers you've been talking about. I (unfortunatly) won't be joining you this year, have the joys of a gap year before starting my Maths course. Been trying to avoid the forum recently though, you lot are all getting too excited for me, I dont know if I'll be able to handle the wait. -
Re: St Andrews chat threadYeh I was kind of using it as an excuse, but figured now that it was almost time for you guys to be going (or going back),I'd introduce myself so I can find out what I'm really letting myself in for over the next 4 years.(Original post by Steeeeevo)

Re: St Andrews chat thread
What a very good idea for a thread!
I suppose I've always been a lurker because you're all far more entertaining than any post I could come up with.
I'm in Andrew Melville (oh, what will be the reaction? I'm intrigued...). I'm James, by the way...and Jimbo is a completely stupid name really, but my friends like it...and it will be a pleasure to meet you all.
Doing Modern History, by the way.

Re: St Andrews chat threadYou post more than me, so you definately can't be a lurker!(Original post by viciouscircle)
Now by what criteria is one classed as a 'lurker'? I fear I may be borderline...^o)
And seeing as this thread is entitled "chat thread" I think we need to chat about more than where we're living. We have loads of threads for that! -
Re: St Andrews chat threadIm not planning on joining many socs because (as you can see by the many TSR socs I've joined in my year and a half as a member(Original post by Parrotman)
I'm not a lurker no sir >.> (i've just kinda been on holiday).
I'm planning to join so many clubs, I can't even remember now!
) I hate to feel like I have to be part of an exclusive club. But seeing as how socs seem to be a big part for uni life I probably will end up joining some that are very relevant to me, but hopefully not that many (apart from the stupid ones obviously, like the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Appreciation Society and the Gary Linker society
)

Re: St Andrews chat threadThe sinner has a list of societies, unfortunately its not complete but it gives you some idea of what’s on offer. But if anyone does know of where a complete list is (or if possible a current student could scan a list if they have one) I'd love to know(Original post by bela)
where can i find a complete list of societies? online maybe?
EDIT: Ive also found more lists on the association site, wikipedia and on the St Andrews Directory none of which are 100% complete but hey I'm getting closer

Re: St Andrews chat thread(Original post by bela)
thank you, it's helpful enough
No prob, just a pity it wasnt, as it is advertised 'complete' (but then again most things on the association site AND the sinner site seem to be out of date, is there nobody designated to update them anymore or do they just not bother?)

Re: St Andrews chat thread
After finding all these incomplete lists of societies and clubs dotted all over the internet I've decided to put them all together in one list so you can easily browse through them (see attachment). I've also included the working websites where I could find them.
NOTE: I'm not saying this list is complete before anyone says, I'm just working on the information given on the Sinner, the student association, wikipedia and the St Andrews directory sites. If you think you can add any info or correct anything either PM me and I'll update the file, or just update it yourself and re-post it.
PS. And before you say anything, yes I am very bored today
UPDATE: I've added a few more socs and some more weblinks I've foundLast edited by Steeeeevo; 11-09-2006 at 01:52.
hopefully this will inspire the rest of you's to come forward! (and its not enough to just vote in the ‘where are you living’ poll!
