Olive oil for hair growth?

Hi:smile: so the other day I had my hair cut a few inches and even though it is in much better condition I can't help but miss my longer hair. The hairdresser cut my hair about an inch shorter than I wanted and I really want to grow it to how I wanted it as quick as possible. I've heard so much online about using olive oil but my mom has suggested that I avoid using it and to just let it grow naturally. I know you're supposed to apply olive oil everyday but if I did it then could I just use olive oil on the days I wash it? That would be about 3 times a week. I have heard that it can grow your hair an inch in a week which I don't whether or not is true, but to grow this much hair in two or three weeks is good enough. What do you guys suggest? I do use heat on my hair like straighteners but not everyday and I always use a heat defence spray before hand. Also I never blow dry my hair. Is there any harm in trying olive oil? Please give me some advice, thank you so much!!

I don't think it's true because I use olive oil quite frequently and it just grows as normal but my hair does look nicer. No harm in giving it a go!

I doubt coating your hair will make it grow faster however, I've heard coconut oil is good is absorbed by your hair (thus making it stronger, and less likely to be damaged).

Olive oil is an essential one for our hair they give good glow to our hair and even skin too, its nice for health also.
Your hair will stink, use cocnut oil instead on your scalp everyday and one rest day like saturday, indians have been doing this for centuries, I would do it as well, but it's effort...so if you're willing to try it go for it. (It also helps for bald patches)
Mind you it's a long term solution so you will have to wait like 6 months for stronger hair, but it will be worth it.

It's only since modern shampoos with all these chemicals and modern stressful jobs have people been loosing hair at a much faster rate.
Anecdotal evidence would be the elderly people I know with a full set of hair!

Olive oil helps to grow our hair and it results nice to our hair also makes our hair silky and shiny too, but use oil at alternate days or twice in a week.
Use coconut oil! I put it on my tips after every hair wash and occasionally do an overnight mask with it. It has improved the condition of my hair so much in 6 months!

Don't even bother with oils! Unless your hair is very dry.
Try massaging your scalp, this encouraging cell repair and blood flow
Which will encourage stimulation of hair growth.
Wash your hair less, or try to not use sulphate products.
And invest in a natural haired brush.

As well as a good diet.
You can't encourage external health without taking healthy items internally.

Yeah massage your head with coconut oil.
coconut oil - hair will grow but it does take like 3 months for a inch to grow - depends...good diet...use oil once a week...long, thick, healthy straight hair in around 4-6 months or a bit longer if u carry on using it at least once a week without a miss

don't worry about the weaker hair falling out - like u mentioned new hair will grow but does take time... I was like that too and stopped but started- I noticed new hair grew months later...I massage the oil on my scalp for 5 mins every once a week...another tip is too put ur head down n massage ur scalp for 5 mins every night this way ur hair will get oxygen too
