Deferring a year - can I still keep my student account?

Hi all

I am postponing my third year of uni and planning on completing my course the following year. Does anybody know whether I can keep my student account with an interest free overdraft? I am £500 overdrawn, so don't want to leave it and then find out that I owe all of that plus interest once the new academic year starts.

Is there anyone out there who has postponed a year of uni and can help me out? I appreciate I'm being a bit of an idiot and should just go to my bank, but I'm in a REALLY mega rubbish financial situation at the moment and don't want to risk them changing my overdraft to non interest free there and then!
