How much money to set aside for food and drink?

How much? How does 25 sound? Per week?

25 isn't enough. If you can live on pasta and rice constantly then maybe. But I'd say you're gonna need at least 25 for food per week, and then if you go out once a week at least 10 quid for drinks.

I usually spend about 20 a week on food and 20 on going out/prinks. If you buy in bulk though it'll be cheaper in the long run. Depends how much you go out and how much crappy student food you're willing to consume really!

I'm confused. First you say 25 isn't enough. Then you say you spend 20.

I'm planning on 25 on food. And 25 every week on socialising. I can change the ratio to 30 - 20 if 25 is too less. But much of the socialising money will go on food anyway..........

Well you didn't specify whether you meant 25 for food and drink (social drinks) or 25 for each (50 per week). I spend like 40 a week on both, on average.

I won't be drinking. So it will go towards mainly just eating out and/or movies or something.

£25/week is a comfortable amount to live off of for food and non-alcoholic drinks, you should be fine on that.
If you mostly eat in with the occasional takeaway or two £25 per week is more than sufficient.

However you might need to prune off some luxuries or snack treats here and there. Can also be smart about it and buy stuff when it goes on sale or prices on it are reduced.
