You're against a universal definition of marriage enshrined in law? If Libertarians want freedom surely they want all people to be free to get married and have all the rights owed to them rather than be limited by the decrees of 'individual churches'. I wouldn't trust their doctrines over jurisprudents and democratically elected representatives.

Yes I am. Who owns the definition of marriage? The state? The church? No.
No one owns it. Individuals can define it however they want to.

Marriage should mean nothing legally it should be a purely social thing up to those involved. The current legal functions of marriage can easily be turned into partnership contracts if needed to.


If a church wants to define as it purely between a man and woman then so be it. A liberal church may wish to include same-sex couples in their definition. A ultra progressive liberal church may want to let 2 women, a men and a transsexual into a marriage.

What I had no idea UKIP was like this. It seems that they are going backwards...

Things like not believing in gay marriage, reintroducing the death penalty and all this extreme nationalism. I feel like reading a history textbook.

Well they technically dropped the death penalty although their DL is quite open about it and they plan to hold referenda on everything that gets a certain number of signatures which would include the death penalty and see a number of them supporting it.

Regarding stuff like gay marriage, they originated and are still dominated by the right of the Tories. Every person at the top has had links to the Tories at one point.

Still things like this kind of scare me..

UKIP are not racist.

Sounds like a pretty big leap. I'm assuming you've given up on dictatorships but do you still believe in nationalised industry? Or do you want some sort of libertarian society run by a small-state dictator? Which, I admit, is a little tricky to imagine.

The irony of being called 'The Dictator', and not understanding that UKIP have a core racist ethos is overwhelming. The Tories are racist, for God's sake!

I think the latter case is a bit fanciful but I wouldn't mind that. My nationstates.com country is run like that.

They are a libertarian, non-racist party supporting Britain's interests. The Westminister elite don't want them to make a breakthrough!

Of course as a socialist I'm uncomfortable with the whole 'unemployed at homeless shelter', corruption and rampant free market economics... Sounds like an uncomfortable place to live.

But I admire that, politically, you know your own mind.
