I'll give you the international (or at least North American) perspective:
majority of people over here have heard of LSE
minority have heard of KCL
However, if you're planning on staying in Britatin, that's a whole different case altogether.

Yes I forgot to mention this - LSE does indeed have a very good level of name recognition in the US (though they always seem to assume you studied economics if you went there). Though on the other hand I hear that King's has a wonderful reputation in European legal circles. Swings and roundabouts you see.

Yeah, I've said that before. If anybody in higher education deserves a knighthood, its whoevers in charge of PR at LSE. They seem to do a phenomanal job.
