Your A Level grades are definitely enough for you to be seriously considered for an offer in Maths/Statistical Science, especially since you have an A for Mathemtics and intend to pursue Further Maths as well. While your GCSEs may be taken into account, I feel that an excellent personal statement/reference, especially one explaining your resolve to study that subject and how you've learned from the GCSEs experience, will put you in excellent standing. i dont think that they really care about GCSE as mine were pretty averago too. but i would not take a year out just to do further maths, although its good to have, not entirely necessary
