Well it depends how good you are at History in general and, in the words of the examiner how good you are at 'thinking on your feet'. You don't have to learn anything new, you just apply techniques from A-level History, as well as applying your own knowledge (from A-Level) to one question in the paper - have a look at some past papers on the Edexcel website.

Its worth a try, as your are very unlikely to get an offer in it (except to my knowledge, certain Cambridge Colleges), and it should be fun! It was for me.

I would agree with 'Ossie1701' in terms of the style of the paper - some of the questions are indeed very strange, but if you are looking at getting a good 'A' grade in A-level History, then you probably have the ability to do the AEA. I thought it was 'not bad' to 'hard'.
