Hey! Not necessarily. They won't reject you based on that as that is unfair. The University will more likely see it as commitment to your course of study and your university. If it helps, I'm applying to another university the second time around  You'll be fine

Thanks a lot! !! gives me some comfort!!!

Southampton is atm my main choice for mechanical engineering. I have yet to apply but already feel that it's where I want to be and probably put as my firm.
So see you mechanical engineers next year hopefully. ;D

Course: MSci Geophysics
Currently studying: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry
Why UoS: The course looks really great!
Attended open days or visits: Nope!

I sent my application off yesterday.
Applying for MLang French and German, currently studying A-Level French, German and RS :-) Been to two Southampton open days now haha, didn't initially like it but the course is amazing, no other uni I've found offers the integrated masters in languages, and I enjoyed the second open day a lot more haha! Hoping to send my UCAS off within the next month...

Applying here! Here and Oxford Brookes are my only 2 definite choices at the moment, I'll be applying for the dual Adult and Child nursing course but there are only 12 spaces so it's quite competitive! The course sounds amazing though and apart from De Montfort is the only one to offer a dual Adult and Child course which just sounds perfect!
I'm currently doing Biology, Chemistry and Art History A-levels (dropped Spanish at AS) Predicted A*BB and requirements are ABB so fingers crossed (plus I do have extenuating circumstances being mentioned in my reference). I haven't attended an open day but if I get an interview it will be a chance to see the city and university but the virtual tour looks good.
Good luck everyone
Would you reccomend Southampton University? Is it a good university for engineering and a good city to live in? How much does it cost to live there?
Got a lovely postcard from Southampton thanking me for the application! They certainly know how to woo me..

I am applying here with A*A*A predicted grades for history , it's my insurance but it's a great university

i too am applying for history, but with far less impressive predicted grades, AAC from history sociology and physics respectively! hoping to get an offer with that and a strong personal statement, but wishing i chose an easier third subject than physics! where else are you applying?
Applied for EEE.
If everything goes well, Southampton probably be my insurance (hopefully I will have a Cambridge Engineering firm, but I'm not sure if I'd choose Imperial over Southampton if I got an offer there too). I've never visited in person, but it looks quite nice, and the course is amazing, so hopefully I'll get an offer

I applied on Wednesday for BA Languages and Contemporary European Studies (Spanish and beginners German). I got an email acknowledging my application the following morning. It isn't my favourite but I do really like the look of the course  though the thing I don't like about it is that you only get to go to a country for one of your languages for the year abroad, where as at everywhere else I've applied you split the year between them. Is anyone else applying/has applied for this course?

Imperial is a London prestigious uni, sad to admit better than Southampton and specialises especially in those sciences for you to excel!!

I think the Southampton course looks better though, and I'm not too keen to live in London, never mind one of the most expensive parts. I do get that Imperial is quite a bit more prestigious though.
Applied for Modern History and Politics - really liked the university at the open day, although the Avenue Campus is a bit of an annoyance for my course. Other than that, almost perfect!

I am in the same position as you, just with the languages the other way round - I am applying for German and beginner Spanish. I think the course looks really good and the language facilities are great, but I really would like to visit both countries so that's the big down side for me.

Yeah I agree with you about the facilities, the language learning rooms are really well-equipped and modern. I also just like the Avenue campus in genera. But I probably won't firm Southampton if I get an offer (providing it isn't my only one!) because I think it really would be better to go to both countries. I didn't really like the city either. Where else are you going to apply?
