Volunteering With No References?

I dropped out of uni last year, and due to severe mental issues (depression etc.) I haven't been doing much for the last year. I don't know anyone well enough who could give me a reference or two necessary to start volunteering.

However, I really want to start volunteering. I actually need to find a job, but I haven't worked for a while so I'm thinking of gaining some work experience by volunteering first.

Advice, please? :smile:

Think harder. You must know two people, over 18, who aren't related to you and who hold down a job? Doctor, Nurse, sports club colleague etc.

Make the applications anyway and put To be confirmed under referee details and sort them out once you have had an interview.

Apply to charities that might be more sympathetic to your medical history and see if they are more lenient on what sort of referees they need from you.
