Well I'm not sure just yet. But It's definitely on the cards

Hi, has anyone had an interview? yet i dont know what to expect or how to prepare any advise?
I have had an offer for AAB for Southampton and am attending the open day on Friday. I have an interview for Swansea on the 10th Feb but have no idea what to expect either! The email didn't mention whether it was group interview or not :/

How was Leeds? It was the one I wanted the most but didn't even get an email to acknowledge they have my application ! The only way I knew they had received it was from UCAS

When did you send your application off?
Swansea was okay, I feel like you never know how it is going to be. But it was loads of mini interviews with about 6 different people. Leeds was good, I got an offer so couldn't have been that bad:smile:
AW that's brilliant about Leeds! I sent mine off in November i think? Hope I hear from them and Manchester soon:smile: what kind of questions did they ask in Swansea? I'm just very nervous as I have never had interviews before, any help you be great!

I'm have an offer from Southampton and am going to the day on Friday too - see you there!
Exciting! It's an early start for me to get my flight but should give a good idea of what uni I prefer,
It is definitely not an interview sure?

You're flying on the day - wow! It looks like the uni is really near the airport though. I'm staying the night before, just to avoid a 2.5 hour drive on the day

The letter says there is a chat with the Admissions Tutor at the end. I'm expecting just that - a fairly short informal discussion, not a formal interview. I've already visited on an Open Day and have met some of the staff. I really like the department, the staff and the students I met there, so I'm feeling quite relaxed about it. Looking forward to visiting again
Yeah I live in NI so getting a flight at 7 on Friday in the morning! Yes that's what I'm expecting aswell. I'm feeling relaxed for Southampton, but not for Swansea interview on Tuesday 😐
They're basically going to ask why audiology, what makes a good audiologist, why swansea. Anything in the news. your strengths/weakness and some scenarios.
But don't be nervous, be confident! They want to see what kind of person you are. How you answer the questions not what the answers are:smile: All the best
Thanks so much ☺️

I'm originally from NI as well. Am a (very) mature student. Look forward to meeting you there

Hi,

Does anyone know the difference between an STP in audiology and a masters. So if I was to do a masters in audiology at uni is this any different?

STP (3 years long) trains you to be a clinical scientist in audiology which you gain a master's in clinical Science i think, If you talking about the Msc Advanced Audiology (1 year long) then that's for people who did the Bsc audiology as it allows you to specialise in a certain area of audiology and is useful if you want to do a Phd later.

The STP is different to the MSc and is really competitive to get onto and more to do with research I think but for audiology theres still a lot of patient contact.

Hope that cleared it up a bit

STP is funded - you are paid while studying - and is, I think, more difficult / competitive to get accepted. I think you need a recent 1st or 2(i) to get accepted. I'm having a bit of trouble deciding on which to firm...Aston, Southampton, Manchester or Leeds?
I'm insuring DMU. Any advice?
