Retracted offer

I have been offered a place and confirmed with both uni and UCAS but had a UCAS update today to say that the place has been retracted. Is this right? Can they do this?

No reason given just an update from UCAS via email simply saying offer retracted. Heard nothing from uni, tried to ring but it was almost 5 o clock when i got the email so the staff at the uni had gone home

Sounds as though you need to call both UCAS and the uni in the morning to find out more. You've paid all the fees you're supposed to have paid? You didn't commit fraud on your application?
