one of a few ways you can get AIDS is through unprotected sex

You don't catch AIDS, you catch HIV
It really annoys me when lads think its great to go bareback sorry but would you rather give/get an std its so selfish you should be more concerned about that.

You can't blame just the lads for it, sure they're the one wearing the condom but it's on both parties to not spread STI's and to make sure they're using protection

you pretty much repeated what I said in my previous post and then said it's laughable... YOU clearly cannot read.

what do you think the 0.06% consists of? do you understand where statistics and numbers come from? we don't know the background of this girl, her statistic could be higher, she could be (maybe she is a regular needle user) you just don't know. so whenever you sleep with someone you barely know and you don't use protection, you put yourself under risk.

the 5%, 10%, 50% you quoted have no foundation. that is not how statistics work. and your 0.06% - I'd like to see where you got that number from. unless it's from NHS or another official medical organisation, I will disregard it.

The risk of an unknown heterosexual partner having HIV is 0.03% in women outside of Africa. Those who are HIV positive more than likely belong to an outpatient clinic where their drug regime and viral load is routinely monitored, the goal being for the disease to be undetectable making sex safe from that perspective.

Combine this with the fact that the risk of transmission from insertive vaginal sex is about 0.08%, the overall risk is so minute that a HIV specialist probably wouldn't bother to offer post-exposure therapy.

You can read about these statistics here: http://www.bhiva.org/documents/guidelines/pepse/pepse2011.pdf .

So generally, I would be more concerned about the risk of pregnancy and other STIs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, HSV etc.

yes but many lads don't like wearing them and will take them off.

And similarly many girls don't care because most who are sexually active are on the pill or have the implant, they're a lot more concerned about getting pregnant than contracting an STI, a lot probably don't even acknowledge the latter until it's too late unfortunately

You said:

if it was so "stupidly low" then there won't be so many people suffering from AIDS.

It is not the only way to contract HIV. You are using every single person who is HIV+ - many of who didn't contract it via intercourse - to argue that vaginal sex is high risk. It isn't. It is a difficult virus to contract.

No, I am assuming that she is HIV positive when I say it is a low risk contact.

shiggydiggy just dealt with that but I didn't 'quote' 5/10/50% from anywhere ffs , I was just using numbers to explain a point; the risk is small if it's a one time contact, do it regularly and it doesn't take long for a small risk to become a big risk. Pretty ****ing simple tbh.
It turns out she's on the pill apparently which is a relief. I'll probably hit her up in about a month just to check nothing's happened.

being a physicist, I don't like it when people pluck numbers out of thin air.

Either way, the point I have been trying to make is that you can be super sensible all your life but you do one mistake and could end up paying for it. I have nothing further to say on this matter, I am bored of this thread.
use comdoms if u don't know them!

Probably very low, however pre-cum can still make her pregnant so it isn't impossible.

Not unless he masturbated to orgasm and subsequently neglected to urinate.
