Hair removal cream/gel. Though don't use it on your private area.

Epilators are somewhat painful but not as much as waxing. Results can last for several weeks and over time the hair grows back thinner, but you won't be as smooth as if you waxed

They are not meant to be used there as it is a sensitive area. Use them there and you may just want to plop everything in a bowl of ice water.
It is very painful. 
Hair removal cream and I speak from experience (I'm a swimmer).
