The word country is synonymous with state. The 4 constituent parts of the UK are no more unique legally and politically than the various states of Germany or Australia. Scotland is a region of the UK and describing it as such is perfectly acceptable and correct.

I really don't see the point in even more independence even if it was for the region I lived in you can give councils more powers if you want more local decision making
