Medicine!! ... but where?

Hello guys! I'd like to study medicine !! it's what I really want to do ! I am a European citizen... I go to a private english school ... I've just finished my AS levels but I didn't get the grades I wanted so that I could apply for medicine in UK. I want to become a doctor and I have 3 options .
A) I can apply for biomedical sciences in UK and then switch into medicine
B) Go to germany and study medicine in german ( but im afraid of the language :frown: )
C) Go to bulgaria in which Medicine is in english and finish in 6 years ... but my parents do not support the idea of going to bulgaria because they say that it's not a good country and that they are not developed ..
what's your opinion? :/
My idea is going to bulgaria .. finish my bachelor in medicine and then go to UK for a specialty.. but can i apply easily for a specialty in the UK? And what about the first option switch from biomedical into medicine?

Remember that you'll still need to learn Bulgarian to study medicine in Bulgaria. Teaching may be in English, but patients will talk in Bulgarian, as will their doctors. You'll have more time to learn than with a German-taught course, but its just something to consider if you're worried about learning new languages.

If Option B sounds scary, don't do it. Living in a country where you are 'afraid of the language' doesn't sound that great to me! (but hey, German is awesome okay :frown: )
Option C.. it might be what you want but your parents are worried about your safety. I think you should choose between Option A and C.
No it's not 'easy' to get into a specialty in the UK, everything is competitive. Welcome to the world of Medicine

In my opinion, the switching sounds great. Depending on what grades you got, some unis allow transfer after 1st year or 3rd to Medicine. SGUL - After 3 years you transfer. QMUL - top 9-15 of Biomed get guaranteed interviews for Med (4th best university for Med in UK). Newcastle - Transfer after 1 year. BSMS - Transfer after 1 year (if you have AAA) or after 3 years if you don't. Also a lesser known one, because it is not an official transfer one is at Cardiff. It allows you to apply directly for 2nd year of Med at Cardiff after 3 years Biomed there.

Whatever you do, you need over 65% in all exams and I would say, just to be on the safe side, a First Class Honours degree.
Those are some pretty exciting options!

First thing I'd say is to be practical with yourself. If you don't think learning a new language is something for you, stick with what you know now and branch out when you're ready.

With going abroad, I would say check for qualifications on getting in. You may have to take a Bulgarian language entrance exam, for example.

For studying medicine UK, you may need to sit the UKCAT and the GAMSAT to get into med school as a graduate.

About specialising in the UK... Of course it's possible, but know that you may have to take the PLAB and an English exam in order to practice as a doctor (it depends on where you get your degree, though).

Good luck!
