Getting a laptop allowance if the one they offer is unsuitable

Hi everyone,

I will be getting a laptop because of my dyslexia, this was stated on the needs assessment. I’ve been using a Mac for years and told the advisor this. She said I could put some money in myself and buy one but is there a specific place I have to buy it from?

How does it work? Do they give you the money and you buy it yourself? I have seen a few cheaper ones on eBay can I buy a mac pro from there, do I need a receipt?

Thanks.
You are recommended a machine from a supplier they state.
You can pay more for a better spec but it must be with the supplier.
You don't get to see a penny.
Exactly what ballotelli12 said.

Adding on to that you ask for an upgrade... From the computer they recommended to a MacBook Pro. But it must be with SFE's supplier so no ebay or nothing! Depending on what software you are recommended it can come out very expensive overall...

And any upgraded equipment must also include the insurance and warranty etc recommended within the report. If the cost for the Mac version of software and insurance/ warranty increases, you will have to fund this too.
