Becoming a porn director

So I'm not exactly the greatest porn addict in the world, but I love the idea of directing porn (not being in the video, behind cam).

I have been told I have a really creative mind and that this career path would suit me, so I was wondering how I would go about this.

Obviously I would need a camera and a place to shoot (pun somewhat intended) the videos and I was wondering what else I would need. Obviously I need to verify people's ages, get consent and perhaps demand clean STI checks, is that it or do I need a licence?

Thanks guys

Depends. If it has low start-up costs I'll give it a go and become an independent porn producer, if not, I'll get a sensible job like a normal human being.

Why?

If I were addicted to porn I would just watch it
You'll need some volunteers who you can experiment with by filming them doing all sorts BDSM whatever lol

I feel that you haven't thought this whole 'career' through..

Do you have the necessary technical skills? People may think that porn is less professional than mainstream productions, but that isn't true, you need to be skilled at operating cameras, know all the technical terms and how to get the best shots for the audience.

You might have to start independent and then send demos (watermarked) to companies and see what they think

Thank you for these sensible responses both of you.

Yeah I am aware that videography is a highly technical field and do have some experience in stage productions (non-pornographic I should say); I am also slightly concerned, since one of you is supposed to be a nice boy

Who says I am joking?

I think there are lots of students who would take the opportunity to earn some cash for university, and I'll be there with a contract and a pen which hasn't run dry.

People have said that to you? I'd be worried if I were told that.

The porn industry is extensive and it has a lot of potential. You can make a good career from it you know.

Wes Craven was a porn director before he did feature films.

Why not get the sensible job in the first place?

What are you talking about? There's nothing insensible about being a porn director.

Well I am a student currently.

It's like a person working towards starting a business without giving up their job, you do it in your own time until you have a good idea that it will work out. I don't think you should just take stupid risks, but there is nothing wrong with following your aspiration. The idea isn't out of the ordinary because it relates to pornography, isn't out of the ordinary because there is a lot of competition.

Lmao imagine getting a job afterwards: 'What work experience do you have in this field?' I can just imagine the answers lol

I don't see why people are slating the guy. It's a legit job; there is demand for it. Someone has to do it.
