Math problems

Please can someone help me solve these. theyre questions on the test I got wrong, and I'm trying to go over them again and understand them.

simplify the following:

2x^2 + x - 1 / 4x^2 + 4x-3

I know I need to factor the top and bottom.

problem 2. factorise completely: 2x^2 - x-1
My answer was 2(x+1)(x-1) but I don't know how to answer this question.

problem 3:
6x^2-7x=3

I made it 6x^2-7x-3=0 then I thik I need to factorise it. But how?

Please help.

For number two

Use the double brackets

(2x )(x )

You're not allowed to post answers which is why I'm not. Sorry

For number 3, keep trying..

(3x )(2x )

(6x )(x )

Try fill the rest in. Check which one of the two works.

You should to memorize a form for the quadratic equation:

Given the equation of : ax2+bx+c=0ax^2+bx+c=0

You can calculate the roots x1x_1 x2x_2 of this with the formula

x1,2=b±b24ac2a\displaystyle x_{1,2}=\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

Then the factorized form of the equation (or the quadratic polynomial) is

a(xx1)(xx2)=0\displaystyle a\cdot \left (x-x_1\right )\cdot \left (x-x_2\right )=0
Ok, read your rules after posting it and realised that was wrong.
