What's the difference between a conditional and unconditional offer?

I've started applying for uni courses, so I just wondered!

Thank you

Unconditional means the place is yours.

Conditional means that you can have the place on condition that you fulfil their grade requirement - AAB or whatever.

If you are in the VI Form, you will almost certainly get conditional offers. If you already have your results or are applying to an American college, you will get unconditional offers.
Moved to Clearing, Applications and UCAS.
