You need to try and react like you're friendzoning her income.

It really depends on the context surely. OP give us some background info.

I'd say it depends how close you are with this girl. My boyfriend told me how much he earns and I know he can support himself and there was a little bit of bragging but I'm sure he was just proud and didn't mean to come across that way.

That's just bragging IMO and there's no need, unless the question is asked. I stay away from women who brag about how much money they have. So what if you're self sufficient? What do you want a cookie?
