CONGRATS TO YOU!! I am a mature student, so I guess they are leaving me until last! Would you be able to give me any tips, seeing as you got offered a place! And did they tell you straight away or did you have to wait for communication from them? Sorry 21 questions....
I genuinely have my heart set on this course, so hopefully we will be study buddies

Thanks! Tips? None really, unless you're talking about the interview. I can help with that! Make sure you check where the interview is before you go to it, or else you'll stress about what room it's in (like I did, though it turned out I guessed right!). They told me in the interview that I had an offer, though it hasn't come through track and I don't think I've had an email from them yet.

You'll be fine as long as you've got the grades and your personal statement shows you have at least some interest. I'm sure you'll be fine though!

That sounds good though  I'm guessing you're spanish?
hej all! Just got an offer for the Ma in Politic of Conflicts, Right and Justice, just 12 days after submitting the application! Great stuff
Hi, I am an American applicant and just got conditional offers from 2 of my SOAS choices (BA Politics/African Studies and BA Development Studies/African Studies), and a waiting on a third. I wanted to know, from someone from the UK who is more familiar with that system, what is more common-unconditional or conditional offers. In the US, we don't really have conditional offers--you either get in or you don't, haha, but it seems like conditional is a pretty normal thing in the UK.
Secondly, what is SOAS' reputation in the UK? From what I can see its a pretty highly regarded place but I'm looking for more insight--like who is a definitive SOAS student? Feel free to private message me.

Many thanks!

Yes! The interview  If you remember any specific questions that they asked you? Yes I'm sure you will get something through from Track in about a week or so...

They gave me an offer, so alright, I guess?

The interviewer was late by 5 minutes and it was basically a conversation about my course and what I thought of SOAS. The interviewer, the principal lecturer in Chinese, was so so so lovely.

Why would that be the case?

SO YEAH, I GOT AN OFFER FOR CHINESE STUDIES!

AAB. I'm so chuffed, I never imagined I'd get five :')

That would be the case because I have applied for a 2'nd year transfer into one of the most competitive courses out there, namely the LLB course. Transfers are hard to get as it is, but yeah... you get the picture, I hope ! :/
Hello all  applied for Japanese, likely firming, predicted A*A*A but received an unconditional offer! Can't believe it!

The only thing that doesn't make me too worried is the fact that Law was in clearing last two years.....

Not sure how good that is but does that mean the course isn't over subscribed as the likes of Kings were not in clearing for Law?

Hey!

Got my offer on the 26th March 2015 and I applied in December! :-/
I called up a week before the SOAS insight day because I had a conflicting Open Day that day and I asked whether I could do a different day but I also spoke about my offer and the lady apologised for the delay and said that my application would be looked into and I got an offer about 3 weeks later!
If you want, there is no harm in ringing them up and just asking what the status of your application is.

Hope I helped!

I looked at the Law courses last year in Clearing and loads of them were "Law with...". SOAS have a lot of combinations so that might be why it was in clearing?

And I was speaking to the Undergraduate Advisor a week ago and she was telling me that SOAS is quite unique as it specialises in African and Asian legal systems and can't really be compared to other Uni's because SOAS is very unique from them through its specialism.

Good point. I got very frustrated and called two weeks ago for an update and was told I was invited for an interview but I never received an email confirmation or anything. I arranged the interview date with admissions over the phone and received a confirmation the next day.

However, I think those that applied post-Jan should be more patient. Late November applicant here with an offer recieved in March!

SOAS LLB Law was in clearing for some time...

just spoke to my friend who went through clearing last year but ended up going to Queen Mary and he said he phoned four days after results day and there were still places averrable at SOAS if you had A B B grades.....

Obviously that was last year so every year is different...this year may be different but I thought it just means that if we don't get an offer...clearing may be an option....
