First Week at Freshers and EVERYONE clubs and drinks?!

I've just moved to London for uni (Saturday) and everyone that I have met is crazy about drinking/clubbing , all of that

I'm in accommodation that's quite far out from the uni , and if I didn't go out drinking/clubbing with my housemates , I would literally be the only one left in my accommodation. No one stays in apart from the unsociable people that no one talks to or knows.

My law freshers is also mental , it's drinking every day and heavily. We even have a france trip on Saturday and it's drinking from 5:30am to 10pm , like vicious drinking where the second and third years pressure you like mad to drink drink drink.

I am not this person at all - I like to stay in , watch movies , talk to people whilst sober. I don't understand why everyone gives me such weird looks when I say I don't like to drink and go clubbing - I'm not that boring that I need to be drunk to talk to people , or have heavy music blasting in the background.

My boyfriend is at a nearby uni and he's found a perfect group of people who love to stay in , do all the things he likes , but I'm struggling so much. The people who I get on with drink , and the people who I don't get on with don't drink. I just can't deal with four years of drinking , going out 3/4 nights a week... it's just not me at all.

I don't know how I can fix this? I've tried suggesting movie nights but people find clubs on facebook and suddenly they really wanna go and everyone's going and they're off pre drinking again. Is London just not where I should be?
UCL? Heard freshers for lawyers there is pretty messy.
Your flat mates will settle down once the Freshers' week is over. Then you can organise movie-nights and I'm sure they'll be fine with that.
You're the minority, they're the majority. If you want their acceptance and friendship you've got to either try your luck after freshers or go out with them as they're not going to change their plans for you, that'd be stupid.

Thought of joining a society? There's a range of them, but finding out what they did the previous year can help you when it comes to social events not involving drinking, etc

It's only during freshers where people go crazy. Let yourself go a little bit just for these two weeks. You're in a new surrounding. Try going out for these two weeks and making friends. The majority of these people aren't going to do this all year. You have the rest of the year to stay in and watch movies. You say london isn't for you but if you went elsewhere it could be exactly the same. Sorry if I sound stringent but uni is all about change so be willing to adapt a bit and you will then be used to uni life and comfort will come at ease. Hope that helps!
Its how young people socialise and make friends and meet partners, always have and always will.

Get used to it and join in.
