Did/will you choose easy modules?

Poll

Did/will you choose easier modules at uni?

I saw a comment on Linkedin describing how some people chose modules giving them "the easiest path" to a first, and I was surprised that this happened (and hadn't occurred to me! :innocent:). It certainly makes a lot of sense if you want a first, for whatever reason.

I thought I'd make a poll to see how many of you had chosen modules for a better chance of higher marks or are intending to do so

Are there 'easy'; modules? :lolwut:

Got to confess in my third year I chose essays based on which assignment had the "easiest" (i.e, clearly worded/straightforward/well defined) title. Too much worrying about the dissertation!
At one of my module choice evenings one of the lecturers told us not to choose a certain module if we wanted a good grade. Needless to say, I did not choose that module.

Easy was perhaps too strong a term to use, but on my course there were definitely modules with (historically) higher average marks than others :yep:
On my course, there were definitely lecturers that were known as being harsh markers and thus sometimes people avoided taking their modules if possible. Although one of the second-year courses is taught by one of these harsh markers, and it is among the most popular courses from year to year regardless, so people obviously aren't too put off if the module itself covers good material. I never deliberately avoided a course, in fact I took two courses with one of those hard markers and was fine - I just worked harder!
No, I pick the modules which I find most interesting. Easiness is subjective.

I totally agree. I picked the modules that interested me the most - I did History, so it was the periods of history that appealed to me. I guess in turn that makes it easier though because essentially you enjoy studying it

Forgot to mention - I like your poll options here. Yes/No and 'That's a good idea!'

I want to do modules that I'm more interested in, but I think I will end up playing to my strengths and taking modules that are more likely to get me the best result with the least distress!
I choose modules which I enjoyed, which were mostly to do with military history, warfare and international history. There wasn't a clear cut line in 'easy' or 'hard' modules in my degree, although some were more daunting that others. Did try to avoid theory, but that didn't stop me from doing a few modules on it when I liked the professor.
My course, Graphic Design, has a lot of pathways so it's really what you want to specialise in. We had 75 credits compulsory in addition to 45 optional this year when selecting modules.

Compulsory:
Graphic Design for Print (30)
Graphic Design for Internet & Multimedia (30)
Concept Generation, Research And Preproduction (15)

Options:

Digital Photography (15)
Motion Graphics And Design For Television And Cinema (30)

Those are all my interests so I'm studying them!

No, I chose the one I thought was most interesting. And even though it was possibly the most difficult module I've done, the other ones looked far worse
I should probably say something about maself :ahee:

I didn't get any options until final year, and I chose modules I was interested in, some that I'd had my eye on since the start of my degree, with no consideration for timetabling. This left me with what I can only describe as an unreasonable workload in the first semester, not good! On top of that one of the modules turned out to be rather quite difficult!

There was one that I was going to choose but didn't in the end because I didn't like the way assignments were set up, and I remembered that I hate materials! I'm actually kind of surprised that some of the responses here have described lecturers blatantly hinting at difficult modules

One module (which I didn't choose) was very popular, and I cannot say definitively it was because it was easy, but it looked like one that it was easy to get good marks in :beard:

And with economics, econometrics and finance modules interest me the most and macro modules interest me the least.
I didn't know which modules were easier. I just picked the modules that looked most interesting.
No way; I'll choose the interesting modules. I'll get better grades in those than the easier ones, probably.

Though whether there are any easy modules for physics is a good question..
No. I did maths, and my interests were all in pure maths and algebra (notorious for only attracting the brightest students - and me - so the scaling is really tough).

I ended up with 67%. My tutor has advised I choose applied modules this year, but we'll see. :colone:

This.

If a module is interesting, it tends to be, or at least feel easy because I'm actually interested in the subject matter,
