Gap Year or another course for a year?

I'm not too confident about my chances of getting into medicine this year, so am trying to plan my next year well in advance. I'm not sure whether to do biomedical science for a year and go through ucas again, or take a gap year. I definitely won't be able to afford to go abroad. :confused:

If you get the right grades why would you put yourself through the unnecessary expense of a year doing biomed? Just reapply.
