Excuses to delay job offer acceptance...

Hi, I was just offered a management job with a retail company, but I've got to an assessment centre for a graduate job.

Now, I don't want to risk losing both, but I also would like to get the graduate job should I pass the assessment centre.

What excuses can I use to delay the retail job offer acceptance by a week or 2?

Anyone?

well if the you get the graduate job, quit the management one simple !

You don't delay the acceptance, you can try to delay the start date - have a holiday booked or a number of pre-booked things you can't get out of.

Has the retail company got a deadline for accepting? Otherwise I would go for delaying the start date. It probably shouldn't be too bad depending on when the contract has to' be signed.
