Struggling with lab practicals (especially the maths)

Hi, I'm a second year Biomedical Sciences student.

I really struggle with the maths involved. Things like being given a table with stock concentration and target concentration and having to work out the amount you need to add. I find the units such as pmol / µl really difficult to work with too.

When I'm at home preparing for the practicals, I just don't know where to start on some calculations. In the practicals I have to ask the demonstrators for so much help, some of the demonstrators are very helpful and help me understand a little better, but I don't have enough time to ask them everything. I would love to be able to work things out independently and get the correct answers.

Does anyone have any advice about how to improve and practice my maths? Where I could go/who I could ask for help?

Many thanks.
If you didn't do A level chemistry you'll struggle with this stuff. It all just comes with practice. Moles calculations practice questions from AS chem unit 1 and A2 chem unit 5 would be a good place to start.
