How long does a year in industry last?

Hi guys so I know it's a stupid question but does anyone know how long a year in industry lasts? Is it september - june or is it september - september and also does anyone know what happens with holidays? Thanks
It depends on the company and the role.

I am on a 13-month placement from the first of July to the end of the following July. I know others who are doing September-September or any other combination imaginable. They know you're a student (as it's a student employment scheme) so it's highly likely that it will reflect the academic year in terms of when you start and finish.

Others may only offer 6-month placements. It's down to them.


You will receive holidays the same as any other employee, which is typically in the area of 28-30 days per annum (including bank holidays). You book holidays with your manager and they will decide when you get time off. The industrial placement year is you working as a full-time employee as you would any other job.
