Where to study Primary Education?

Hi,
I am hoping to study Primary Education next year and would appreciate some help choosing where to apply!

My ideal university would be in a big city, with a campus near the centre. However the big city universities often have a few campuses, with Teacher Training on a smaller campus away from the centre, such as Manchester Met since Primary Education is studied in Crewe!

Does anyone have any recommendations on universities which offer this course, preferably in a bigger city?
Hey, have just replied to you on a different thread but wanted to add that according to the website, Man Met do Primary ed at Cheshire but also the main site

How are you finding it? And what is your timetable like?

I'm really enjoying it so far  until November the timetable is pretty empty (a couple if hours twice a week) and then it gets quite a bit busier (around 11-4 most days) but we get plenty of days and afternoons off. The timetable changes every week so some weeks are a lot busier than others. We also have placement once a week and then 3 block placements of 2-3 weeks.

Ah ok sounds good! Do you get a chance to specialise in a subject? And also would you know if it's possible to do any study abroad?

We do get to specialise in a subject, you choose 2 at first and then choose one of those to specialise in further. In second year you can go abroad for 5 months through Erasmus

Sorry to absolutely bombard you with questions... But can you specialise in modern foreign language, and if yes what kind of language level do you need? And how does Erasmus work? Thanks so much

The list of specialisms changes every year, MFL was on this year's list but might not be on next year and I'm not sure what kind of language level you need as it's not a subject I want to specialise in- sorry! To go abroad you need to have achieved good results in your first year so that the tutors know you will be able to cope abroad and also that you won't fall behind as you'll be missing 5 months at man met. You get a grant to help with living costs although if you choose a country that is not in the Erasmus program (such as Hong Kong) then you have to fund it yourself.

Thank you so much for answering

Ever considered Reading?

The primary ed is taught at the London Road campus which is around a 5-10 minute walk to get into town which is ideal?

I actually went there last week and really liked it!😄 Was nice having the bigger campus and smaller site for the course, both near the centre! Just thought it was fairly small, the centre itself but suppose as there are lots of students there'll still be lots going on!

That is true, but I guess it's good that the london road campus is just purely for primary ed and also PGCE.

The town centre in Reading is really nice and big. It's a very student friendly town

Haha yeah I've just replied to you on that one! I think there must be 2 sites weirdly enough! The one in Cheshire is the one that I mentioned in the other thread that is in Crewe!

I went to Oxford Brookes today which was pretty nice! The gym and the city were the highlight for me, the campus for Primary Ed seemed a bit dead but guessing that most of the students weren't there or haven't gone back yet!
