Why do you choose to wear one?

Firstly, I wear it cos my religion tells me to and I want to please my Lord, my Creator, Allah. I think to be a follower of something, one must also follow the instruction of it. I'm aware that there are many things that Islam demands us to do and being a human I fail to follow all of these but I believe in self-reformation. Hijab for me is my identity, it symbolises the most significant part of me which is my religion.

On daily bases, I feel at ease when wearing one and it makes me feel protected and comfortable. The fact that people are aware of why I wear one makes me feel proud cos it shows that I have a firm belief(not saying non-hijabis don't) and can take a stand for my beliefs, no matter what the world thinks of me.

lol no, they're humans, although some can be(Delhi Rape case). Its just that I don't want any random guy to think about me in a sexual way. They might think of me in such a way even when I'm wearing a hijab but at least it would make me feel comfortable in a way that I wouldn't be showing my beauty to them.

I'm studying Law.
Reading, History, Law, travelling and religion.

A good Law degree(Insha'Allah) and married.

Arranged because I trust my parents and their choice for me. I'm not against love marriage but I just believe love can happen after marriage too.

I have a number of friends and colleagues who wear the hijab and I think that they look lovely. However I also have a friend from South Africa who does not wear the hijab. I have been told that whilst modest dress is required the need for the hijab, niqab and burka are not defined or compulsory. Can you clarify what is the best thinking on this topic?

Yes its recommended and requirement to dress modestly and not to show hair. But again in Islam, there's no compulsion. This means that a Muslim girl should not be forced to wear one if she doesn't want to, for this is a personal matter with Allah.

Personally, I think its a personal choice to wear a hijab or not cos Islam does not impose anything by force.
