Does anyone else hate England?

lol. It seems to me you're kinda like the prisoner who wants to move to a new prison. You will never be freed, dude.

Are you trying to run away from warders? Where do you want to go? The world is such a huge prison!

I love the England of old, not what England has become.

Wish I had a time machine to take me back to the old days.
I think it's fairly pleasant where I live, but a part of me is terrified of living a really normal life where I live and grow old in this country

And want to emigrate. For various personal reasons, I've come to the conclusion that I hate the place. I'm not expecting utopia anywhere, I'm not an idiot. But there's something I've encountered with authority, and power, the way I think this country is corrupted and people are so inculcated, the way it will never change whilst seeming progressive on one level, and the way it will sap joy and humanity out of your life.

I alos think there's a generational war too, and the disciples of Thatcher, the generation above me, seem to want to bleed everyone dry.

Very miserable place.

You mean the disciples of Blair?

I would only want to live Britain if it became a socialist dystopia, otherwise I am happy here.

Hate is a strong word.

I'd say its not the best place to be in the world and i'd prefer to be in the US, Canada or an emerging market with high rates of growth (more opportunities).

It's not really economics just. I'd even go to places with worse economies that are better in other respects. I agree re Canada, also US but not so much, But I'd love to live in France for so many reasons besides economics, civil liberties, space, weather etc. Germany would be prosperous too. I always had an aversion a bit to NZ and OZ, but now I think they are prosperous and I'd be almost relieved to get there if I got the chance. I'm very troubled by the state of civil liberties, and I feel there are some sinister aspects in this country increasingly.

I'm in the process of immigrating to Canada and I don't think it's as easy-going as people make it out to be.

I've noticed there's a bigger drug problem there than in the UK. And the weather is rather depressing. I love the cold and winter, but you essentially live indoors all season, there's a lot of heated underground tunnels in towns and cities, it's that cold! The only mild area is British Columbia, which is ridiculously expensive to live in and the majority of people are immigrants in their own communities.

I actually recommend South Africa to people wishing to emmigrate. It is a developing country, but it's got the perfect landscape, weather and culture. The people are a mix of British, Dutch and Africans which really makes it multicultural. Safety isn't an issue if you live on the coast or west side of the country, and the people look after each very well. The major benefit is the incredibly weak exchange rate and an extremely low cost of living. Most Brits that move out of the UK can afford a very luxury lifestyle in South Africa.

Or you could take the ultimate plunge and move to South Korea or Japan, both have an extremely high quality of life and freedoms, and Japan will soon be crying for immigrants to support it's economy.
England is a beautifull country, we need to make it better.

So rather than trying to improve Britain, you'd rather tell everyone who wants progress to bugger off?

Well they're not trying to make it better, they're just moaning. If they want to make it better that would be brilliant but they can't be bothered. Complaining is easier.

Massive amounts of racism and social division though. A million times more than the UK and even worse than the US. South Africa is a definite example of a multicultural society which doesn't work. In the UK, it wouldn't be strange to see a black guy and a white guy hanging out in a pub. It happens in South Africa but it's far rarer and a lot stranger.

Being Welsh it is only national duty to hate the English.

Spoiler

I currently live in England now though so i can't really say much, it is sure as hell nice to be able to have things on your doorstep rather than having to travel for an age like i would have had to back in Wales.

I've given up. Of course I care about it, want to make it better, but you're dealing with an extremely conservative population that is the antithesis of your own psyche.
You could take even trying to discuss a republic as a perfect example. And this isn't old people who are supposed to have gotten very conservative, it's people of 18-21 even. Young Tories, monarchists. People who buy into the status quo unconditionally. And, like I mentioned before, the same unquestioning quality the English have of living in this post imperial fantasy.

Strangely enough, although I mentioned North America and Australasia, they don't really grip me in the heart. South Africa, was one place in the commonwealth that did seem to have a soul and be interesting. The murder rate is ****ed but then so is the USA tbh.
any developed country in the world is far better to live in than england
I do not hate it at all, while I would like to live abroad that is simply because I'd like to experience somewhere else.

I'll admit a lot of English people are complete p**** though

^^ Strong argument here.

I don't hate England, the weather could be better but having been to quite a few countries, England is pretty good. Some parts of it are rubbish but that's the same as everywhere.

There are far too many moaning minnies around these days. They have a massive sense of entitlement and lack any strong social sense. I hope you find happiness and fulfilment elsewhere.

Don't you wonder why so many people are unhappy though? It's because Britain has become a bit of a joke letting people take over and do what they want. The government has no power any more.

Not true at all; the Germans, Dutch and Scandinavians (the more prosperous, northern Europeans) don't hate us, at least not nearly as much as everyone else.

Oh really? That's a little reassuring

yes it is very frustrating. the prospect of another L****r Government this time next year makes me feel nauseated. even if they are in coalition with the L*b D*ms, which should be a giggle.
