Studying with the OU for GEM
If I was to study with the Open University would I be able to apply as a graduate for GEM? The Open University wouldn’t be my first choice, but I’m currently in hospital and I don’t know when I will get out.

Yep you would. There are OU grads in my year.
It's valid, but give a thought to what you'll do if ultimately unsuccessful (hopefully not, but worth considering). If it's a science degree you're considering, a lot of employers will demand experience in laboratory techniques. Not a huge issue if you're doing an arts or other degree.
