Atomic structure - explain why chromium is placed in the d block

don't really understand the homework please help

basically, it's to do with their energy levels and if their electronic configuration ends with a certain letter e.g. s, p or d, it means that they're in that block
Cos the outermost electron is in a d sub-shell

chromium 4s has lower energy then 3d therefore 4s gets filled first then 3d. but for chromium having having an electron in 3d makes it more stable. this is because the electron does not require to reverse its spin. (don't trust me 100% just learned this)
