I want to be an RAF medic

So I have looked into a career in the royal air force and have decided I really want to go for it but when I registered my details over the phone the guy said that the RAF medic role was not open because it was oversubscribed so I then asked how long I could be waiting so that I can actually go ahead and apply as the process of getting in is already so long ! He said no one will know for sure which I can understand because they cannot predict how many people will be interested in this role but I feel like I could be waiting months or years , I really don't know how long it could be and all I am doing just now is trying to get my fitness up and looking for a part time job to keep me going , any other tips or advice ? Has anyone been in a position like this themselves ?
Most everyone has been in this position. Recruitment is quite low these days, so they tend not to have more than one or two intakes a year for a lot of Trades, even less for the specialist ones (like Medic). It's just how it is. Some people are lucky and begin their application at the optimal time, but most have to wait. You have to decide if you want to wait.

Okay thanks !
not helped by the fact the RAF is the one service which ahs got it;s ducks in a row over getting relevant personnel proper Paramedic training ( and HCPCD) registration - although AIUI most of the regular Paramedics are from WSOp backgrounds for SAR /CSAR /MERT rather than MAs - although MAs do have the chance to go for FNA on aeromed as well .

The reservist paramedics are MAs but that's generally becasue it's the easiest way for these existing Paramedics from the NHS to be brought on strength ( usually via 4626) - until such time as Paramedic becomes a seperate CEG in the DMS.

Jesus man. RAF, Ducks in a row, HCPCD, AIUI, WSOp, SAR/CSAR/MERT, MA, NHS, CEG, DMS. On top of that you are completely wrong.
