Foundation degree or bachelor?

I am a bit confused about degrees in UK. If I do foundation degree, can i continue to bachelor or I might have to do bachelor from the beginning? For example I do two years of foundation degree and one or two years and get a bachelor,or it does not matter if I have foundation degree,I might have to do bachelor from start?

As I understand it, the intention of a Foundation degree is to prepare you for a Bachelors degree - it covers the A-level (and below) knowledge needed in order to study the subject. So I believe you have to start a Bachelors from scratch once you complete a foundation degree.

A foundation degree helps to fill the gaps in your knowledge that's needed to understand the material of the course. Normally, they're one year long, and yes, after those you start with the bachelor from the beginning.

Whether or not you have to do a foundation degree depends on your previous qualification, e.g. that you didn't do science subjects.

If in doubt whether you need to do a foundation degree, contact the university you want to apply, though they should also have this explained on their website.

A few examples of foundation degrees:

In some institutions (Nottingham Trent University) you're able to do two years of a foundation degree and then apply to join the bachelor equivalent for third year. Many students take this route as foundation degrees are easier to get higher grades and also about £2k cheaper per year! However, you will find the step between second year foundation degree and third year bachelor's degree is big. Important to note this isn't the case for all degrees, only ones that directly link to eachother. I believe they call it doing a foundation degree with a "top up year".

Hope this helps
