I was considering doing a logic gate simulation like http://logic.ly/ but I was wondering if this is actually possible to do in Visual Basic? Because if not, I don't think I could be asked to learn another language as it can be time consuming and VB is easier for me to use with since I have used it for a year now and feel as though I can make the graphics of my project better there.

Should be possible, don't see why not.
Depending upon the complexity of it, and whether or not you go down the route of drawing shapes to a canvas or just designing the shapes in photoshop will determine the type of grade you will get though.
