US Midterms

On November 4th all House seats will be up for grabs along with some senate seats and governers.

I've opened this thread to discuss.

...

On a side note a recent poll in Iowa for the presidency suggested that Paul Ryan would be just 1% behind Hilary.

Surprised at the lack of discussion.

Just been looking at the polling trends and it looks as though the Democrats could well gain New Hampshire and North Virginia. Will have to look at the others to see what the Republicans may gain and what's undecided.

Result last time was 53-45 to Democrats.
Betting markets have had the GOP as a lock for the House for some time. Senate looks to be going that way too. Poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight currently gives the Republicans a 63.9% chance of a majority.

GOP likely to need one of Colorado, Iowa, Georgia, and worth nothing that there's an independent challenger in Kansas who iirc has pledged to caucus with whichever party leads.

Now that the republicans have taken control of the house and senate, it will be interesting to see what steps they can take to fix the healthcare system the democrats destroyed. As it stands, in addition to the seven million who have already lost their health insurance, 100 million or more may lose their coverage if Obamacare is not stopped. Replacement options available to the people who have lost their insurance are often more expensive and inferior, so this is a real disaster waiting to happen.

Doubt much will happen as Obama will simply veto anything that comes his way.

If he vetos anything that comes his way, he will lose even more elections.

At some point though, even Obama has to wake up to the fact that this isn't working. I can't imagine him not picking up a bucket and helping us bail out the water and save this sinking ship.
