Resolution 2014/8: Concerning the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa

Resolution 2014 / 8

Concerning: The outbreak of Ebola in West Africa

Directed to: The social, cultural and humanitarian committee

Submitted by: Madagascar

Alarmed by the escalating situation of the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa,
Deeply concerned by the overwhelmed healthcare services in Sierra Leone and Liberia in particular,
Noting that Ebola continues to spread even including isolated cases outside of West Africa,
Believing that this situation will continue to escalate and spread into further countries and will not cease without an effective coordinated response from UN member countries,
Reaffirming the MUN’s commitment to bettering the standard of living for all its members,

1. Invites all nations with the capacity and resources to do so, to send aid and medical personnel to West Africa
2. Calls all nations to consider their country’s response to this outbreak and global emergency
3. Calls for all aid deliveries to be allowed to pass through ports and customs without delay in Sierra Leone and Liberia
4. Expresses condolence for the lives that have been los thus far
5. Expresses a hope that this outbreak may be rapidly contained with minimal further loss of life, and that collapsed healthcare infrastructure can be rebuilt in West Africa.

USA finds it unfair for Africa just asking sorry for the lose of lives.
They cannot just say sorry and have to help those innocent people who lost their family members.
USA would help to do medical and food to the innocent people there.

The WHO says nearly 9,000 people have contracted Ebola this year, and at least 4,493 of them have died.

Botswana would like to express our deepest condolences to victims and the affected families alike. We would like pledge 100 health workers as well as $5 Million worth of medical supplies. We have already escalated Ebola screening at all our port of entry.

Turkey sends our condolences to affected countries however we feel we have more pressing matters than a disease in a far away land, with our thorough screening process and travel ban, and we're confident the WHO can deal with the situation. We also question Madagascar and what they're donating?
