Ah okay, that's what I thought at first but friends have told me to go in Pollock Halls cause its more social than the other places?

Pollock Halls has about 45-50% of 1st year students all in one place! It is sociable, but about a half hour walk from the ECA. You're also forced to mingle as you all eat in the JMCC.

But, there's plenty of places where you can socialise around university, and all other halls too.

Again thanks for your help. But I still can't decide between them :3 , can you please help me more by giving a short description or the advantages of the particular accommodation over others :x

As there's a lot of choice, I'll change the question around.
Is there anything in particular you're looking for?

Nothing in particular I guess , I would like to minimize the cost of living but I guess I can spend up to 120ish pounds for accommodation. I would like gym, cafe/pubs nearby. I like to play video games too so if there's a gaming lounge nearby, too that would be a plus point.(planning to join gamesoc) Would also prefer if its not too noisy outside. Anything that fits the description?

Thanks for helping me out

So if you're looking for Self Catered, I'd recommend New Arthur Place, Hermits Croft, South Clerk Street, Darroch Court, Sciennes, Meadows Court, College Wynd, Robertson's Close, or Kincaids Court

I know that doesn't really narrow it down, these are all the ones which would be in the right area for the university gym and all the important pubs.
In terms of Gaming Lounges, there aren't really any (there was one but it closed in 2012/2013), but Gamesoc will sort out your gaming fix.

Where do 1st year A100 medicine students have most lectures - around George Square or in Little France? I.e. which halls of residence would be more suitable in terms of distance?

I got accepted for medical sciences at Edinburgh and am looking at self catered residence, that is not to far from lectures (not sure where the majority of those would be) i am looking for around 90-120 pounds per week.

How's blackfriars street and Deaconess?
I'm thinking of Sciennes New Arthur place and Robertsons close

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has stayed in New Arthur Place or knows anyone who has? I like the look and location but am a little baffled as to why it is so much cheaper than some of the others?
Is there something 'bad' about the accommodation that I should know about?

Also, is there really much difference between New Arthur Place and Darroch Court?

Thank you!

Blackfriar's street is weird, you'd be sharing 2 kitchens between about 15 people as it's based in a hostel.

I didn't include Deaconess in the list as I thought it was a bit out of your price range, but it's really nice

Sharing a bathroom is fine, I had an ensuite in 1st year and I was worried about sharing a toilet and shower room with my flatmates I have now, but it's all went fine, despite our toilet actually being in a cupboard.

How many people actually share a bathroom?
And Which accom did you choose during 1st year for ensuite rooms?

Depends on the accommodation, but I've not heard of anyone sharing a bathroom with more that 4 people.

And I stayed at Beaverbank, it's horrible. Too far away for the price tbh.
Anyone know if deaconness would be suitable for a medical student in terms of location?
Any thoughts on John Burnett? Is it good?

It's nice. But I wouldn't pay £220 a week to live there.

Is it the best of catered halls do you think?

I've received an unconditional for English Language and Literature that I'm strongly considering firming; could anyone give me some advice for which accommodation options I should be looking into? I know I definitely want to be in some kind of self-catered accommodation, but I'm not too sure beyond that regards en-suite facilities etc. and I don't want to be too far from everything
